The word “extension” is derived from two Latin word “Ex” and “tension” where ex means out and tension means stretching. But the actual use, the term extension is used to disseminate useful information and ideas to the ordinary people in their working situation.
In essence (reality), there is common concern for communication of information to rural people to help them to form sound opinion and good decision. The goal is to help people solve problems themselves. Thus, to be precise, extension is a method of non-formal education which aimed at bringing desirable changes in human behavior in a socially desired education.
