This subject is taught in Diploma in Agriculture (I.Sc. Agriculture) in Plant Science in 3rd Year.


Commercial farming is typically done large scale. The goal of commercial farming is to make profit which is done through maximizing crop yield by labor saving technique and technology. Use of synthetic fertilizer and hybrid seed is common on commercial farm as are heavy farming machine sophisticated technology. Commercial farm typically grow one crop in large quantity some of main commercial crop are coffee, sugarcane, cotton, jute, tobacco, potato and tea. Subsistence farming: Farmer grow wide range of crop based on anticipated need of their family and communities. Traditionally, subsistence farmer have eaten wheat they grow also trade excess crop and livestock for other needed goods. Most of the food produce in Nepal subsistence farming vegetarian in nature.
